SCOUTING Burkhead sponsors Boy Scout Troop #911 with its full contingent of members and a Venture Crew of older Boy and Girl Scouts. Various Girl Scout and Brownie troops meet regularly at Burkhead.

OTHER programs include Line dancing and two mother/child groups add to the mix of programs offered at Burkhead.

MUSIC plays an important part of the worship services at Burkhead with a top-notch choir under the direction of Dr. Peter Kairoff, with organist Kay Scales. Assistant Music Director Guy Keplin is in charge of the RUSH! Hour service. Guy and his wife, Olivia, also work closely with the youth music program.

UNITED METHODIST MEN (UMM) is a very active group of men who participate in outreach within and outside of the church boundaries. Money from fundraising activities are used to assist the Scouting program, as well as the Old Town Global Academy.

UNITED METHODIST WOMEN (UMW) is one of the most active UMWs in the district with their support of outreach and mission.

UMYF Youth & UMYF Kids. During the school year, Sunday evenings feature UM Kids and UM Youth meetings where the youth get more involved in missions and fun, followed by a meal together.

OUTREACH is an extremely active area at Burkhead. Members are encouraged to work with all people in need. Areas currently being served include the Downtown Church Ministry, Samaritan Mission, Habitat for Humanity, Second Harvest Food Bank, Shoe-box Ministry, overseas missions in Africa, summer youth mission trips within the US, adult mission trips to West Virginia and eastern North Carolina to help people who experienced devastation through floods and hurricanes.
